Seamless Daily Co-ordination at Ferrybridge
DataScope’s ground-breaking digital planning tool, DataTouch played an integral role in Hitachi Zosen Inova’s daily site co-ordination at Ferrybridge (HZI). DataScope provides a range of solutions to the Ferrybridge Multifuel 2 project in West Yorkshire.

The Project
Following on from the successful completion of the first energy-from-waste plant (EFW) in Ferrybridge (UK), the Swiss clean-tech company Hitachi Zosen Inova constructed a second facility. Joining forces with HZI, DataScope has significantly contributed to the ongoing delivery of exceptional Health & Safety and Site-Coordination standards across site.
Our Role
Embracing innovative technology and smarter ways of working, the HZI team currently use DataScope’s latest interactive management tool, DataTouch, as an integral part of daily operation on site. Site Scheduler, Robert Llewelyn, had the following to say about working with DataTouch:
“Using DataTouch on one of our touch-screen TVs, contractors plot their areas of work and highlight any potential issues, by dragging and dropping ‘hotspots’ using a fully- interactive plan of site.”
Pairing our unique software with their own aerial photos of site, contractors can easily visualise and coordinate daily tasks of work, ensuring there are no clashes on site.
“We have a lot of intense construction activity taking place in quite congested areas so it is critical for everyone to understand what is occurring each day and to be able to manage the interfaces accordingly.”

The Result
DataTouch has proven to be an invaluable tool in a variety of meetings on site. Robert Llewelyn goes on to describe who uses the software each day:
“20-25 people attend the daily coordination meeting from various project stakeholders – Our client’s representatives, HZI Management & Supervisors and HZI subcontractors. The report is emailed out afterwards and posted on noticeboards which is likely to be seen by 100+ people.”
